FAQ’s: DEBUNKING COMMON CANCER MISCONCEPTIONS.

  1. What is cancer?

Cancer develops when the body's cells grow and divide in an uncontrolled and abnormal manner. Typically, old cells die off while new ones are produced as necessary. However, in the case of cancer, these abnormal cells persist in their growth, overwhelming healthy cells. Often, these irregular cells cluster together to form a mass known as a tumor.

  2. Is cancer contagious?
No, cancer is not contagious. Being around someone with cancer will not cause you to "catch" the disease. This is because cancer cells cannot spread between individuals. They are unable to survive outside the body, and the immune system effectively identifies and responds to cancer cells that enter the body.

  3. Can injuries lead to cancer?

No, physical injuries such as bruises, fractures, or falls do not lead to cancer. However, a pre-existing cancer may be identified during a medical examination for an injury.
